Consultation has concluded

Note that the Social Justice Charter 2022-2026 has been extended to 31 July 2023.

Have your say in your way to help shape our community!

On World Social Justice Day 2023, Georges River Council proudly announced the launch of our Social Justice Charter 2022-2026 through upcoming opportunities to help inform the development of the Action Plan for the Charter.

During March – June 2023, Georges River Council is hosting four separate Your Say opportunities and corresponding launch events. Each Your Say opportunity will highlight one of the four Principles of the Social Justice Charter, including Participation, Equity, Respect, and Empowerment.

Corresponding events will provide information on how to get involved in Council’s Reference Groups and Advisory Committees as well as workshops on how to contribute to Council’s Your Say platform in creative ways.

Your Say contributions made during and after these workshops will help to guide the priorities of Council’s Social Justice Charter Action Plan.

What is the purpose of Council’s Social Justice Charter?

The purpose of the Charter is to drive social change and to improve the lives of our community by ensuring that everyone, including those experiencing disadvantage, can access pathways to exercise their human rights.

In consultation with community reference groups, advisory committees, and community members of all ages, the Charter was developed to provide a foundational guide to support Council to meet this aim.

How can I get involved?

1. Contribute to our Your Say Message Boards

Social justice means something different to everyone. During March to June 2023, we invite you to share your ideas and experiences to shape a better future for Georges River through four separate Your Say opportunities.

Click each of the tiles below to have your say on each of the Social Justice Principles.

2. Attend our Public Workshop Events

If you would like to get creative and find new ways to express yourself, we will be hosting workshop events each month between March – June 2023 to help you to creatively express your ideas and experiences of each of the Social Justice Principles (Participation, Equity, Respect and Empowerment).

There will be staff on hand to help with how to use Your Say and representatives from Council’s Reference Groups and Advisory Committees to share their experiences of helping to build a better future for Georges River.

Take the opportunity to express your thoughts and ideas in your own unique way. Whether you’re an artist, parent, worker, migrant, student, or just passionate about making a difference, this is your chance to bring attention to the important issues that matter to you.

Note: All Public Workshop Events are now complete but the above Message Boards will remain open for contributions until the end of July 2023.
