The Plan

The Plan. The priorities – you choose.

You have the opportunity to help establish the priorities for the next ten years!

Council has a Plan which identifies the community’s (your) main priorities and aspirations for the future – the Community Strategic Plan. You now have the opportunity as part of a review of the Community Strategic Plan to help establish the priorities.

We have consulted with many residents and business owners over the last three years on a number of strategies and intend to use these results to review our current Community Strategic Plan, rather than starting from scratch.

You told us

Our consultation with the community has revealed that you value:

  1. Our diverse culture and strong social services.
  2. Our varied and productive economy.
  3. Our green open spaces, sporting facilities and our river.
  4. Facilities to meet the needs of a growing population.
  5. Our convenient location and transport.
  6. Efficient operating models that focus on service maintenance across the broad range of Council services.

We want to ensure that the Plan is still relevant and reflects your priorities and needs for the Georges River Local Government Area.

Your say

During August and early September we intend to inform, consult and involve you in this review. We will provide you with relevant information and opportunities to be engaged. We will do this through a range of methods from providing information on Council’s website, social media platforms and through online workshops and webinars.

It is a requirement of the Local Government Act that Community Strategic Plans are reviewed every four years. This Community Strategic Plan Review must be adopted by the new Georges River Council by 30 June 2022.

Our Engagement Schedule

The Plan is important and it was our preference to meet with you in person, but it's more important we keep you and your family safe.

Across late August and early September, we held a number of online engagement sessions. Thank you to everyone who tuned in. It was great to hear from you and we hope you took away something from our sessions.

If you didn't get an opportunity to meet with us live, our online sessions have been uploaded to this page and can be accessed via the Webinar widget on this page. We were able to have some insightful discussions with our guests, and some of the most popular topics were:

  • Our consultations have identified six themes that are important to the community - we call these our 'six pillars'.  These pillars underpin our future work:

    1. Our community

    2. Our economy

    3. Our green environment

    4. Our built environment

    5. Our place in Sydney

    6. Our governance

You can now choose priorities under each pillar.
