Consultation has concluded

Georges River Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from artists/teams of artists to create and install a number of artworks to contribute to Un[contained] Arts Festival, a three-day arts and culture festival in the Georges River area in June 2023.

Un[contained] Arts Festival expands and challenges the ideas of what ‘art’ is, breaking it free of a traditional gallery space and letting it take over the streets. Audiences will be drawn to the area by a series of transformed shipping containers placed among large-scale installations, with pop-up and small discoverable artworks within Kogarah.

Our community will engage with a diverse range of immersive and creative art experiences involving objects, performance, sound, light, and colour.

Please visit the Georges River Council’s ‘Public art’ page to read the Expression of Interest for the full project brief and for guidelines on how to apply for this opportunity: https://www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/Community/Art-and-Culture/Public-Art Expressions of Interest close at midnight, Sunday 26 March 2023. Overview

Georges River Council held the successful COVID-19 safe Un[contained] Arts Festival in June 2022, which attracted over 38,000 people. The project aims to enliven Belgrave Street, Kogarah and increase the cultural vibrancy of the area once again. By situating a series of shipping containers in the centre of Kogarah, Un[contained] Arts Festival expands and challenges the ideas of what ‘art’ is: breaking art free from the traditional gallery space, and letting it take over the streets.

Bringing together large-scale installations with small discoverable artworks, our community will uncover incidental art experiences, and immersive activities involving performance, sound, light, and colour. Transitioning from day to night and stimulating the senses, Un[contained] Arts Festival will be an accessible event, inviting people from all walks of life across all abilities to take part in a celebration of our City’s creativity
