Background

Following a comprehensive traffic study, Georges River Council has identified Riverwood as a High Pedestrian Activity Area (HPAA) and has developed opportunities to improve safety for road users and pedestrians in the Riverwood Town Centre. Council has secured funding from Transport for NSW to deliver the construction of the Riverwood HPAA project within the 2024-2025 financial year. Preliminary 'concept' designs are available for review now.

The Riverwood HPAA project aims to create a safer road environment for both vehicles and pedestrians through the installation of various traffic calming devices. The introduction of a 40km/h speed limit is also a key component of this initiative.

All Riverwood residents and businesses are invited to provide feedback on this project. Consultation will be open from Wednesday 1 May to Friday 31 May. Your feedback provides valuable insights that will be considered during the finalisation of the project.

Following this initial consultation period, final detailed designs will be developed and subsequently shared to the 'Your Say' portal in July 2024.

Upon completion of the Riverwood HPAA project, Council officers will explore opportunities and conduct a detailed investigation into the implementation of additional short-term parking within the Riverwood Town Centre.
