The NSW Office of Sport is leading the development of a new pool at Carss Park on behalf of the NSW Government and Georges River Council. Background information supporting the November 2024 Community Consultation

Council, at its meeting on 25 November 2024, considered the report Reconstruction of new Facility at Carss Park - Options for funding’.

Key considerations within the report include:

prioritising funding
requesting a copy of the business case from the NSW Government
managing operational costs
aligning the ongoing operating costs and capital contribution with Council’s long-term financial planning


Georges River Council plans to contribute $10 million over three years to rebuild the Carss Park Aquatic Facility, in partnership with the NSW Government.

The NSW Government will lead the business case and design phases. The Council will support them as the landowner and potential operator.

A funding cap of $17.5 million has been set. It covers past costs for demolition, remediation, and planning. Council remains dedicated to delivering this important community project while maintaining financial sustainability.

Upon receipt of the NSW Government Office of Sport, Business Case any social, economic, employment, financial and environmental impacts of the project will be included in the February 2025 report to Council.
