Consultation has concluded

UPDATE: Consultation for this project concluded on 19 May 2023. At its meeting held on 24 July 2023, Council resolved to adopt this amendment to the Georges River DCP 2021. A Development Control Plan (“DCP”) provides planning and design guidelines for the design and assessment of proposed developments to support the planning controls in the Local Environmental Plan (“LEP). 

Background 

The Georges River Development Control Plan 2021 came into effect on 8 October 2021 to support the Georges River Local Environmental Plan 2021The Georges River DCP harmonised and replaced the Kogarah DCP 2013 and Hurstville DCP No.1. However, DCP controls for the Hurstville City Centre were excluded from the consolidation process and the Georges River DCP currently does not apply to land located within the Hurstville City CentreA number of housekeeping issues have also been identified since thencomprising of unintended omissions, numerical, typographical, interpretation and formatting errors. 

Consultation 

Council is currently exhibiting draft Amendment No.3 to the Georges River DCP, which seeks to harmonise all DCP controls relating to the Hurstville City Centre into the Georges River DCP and rectify the identified housekeeping issues.

No changes to the Georges River LEP are proposed as part of the subject amendment to the GRDCP. The DCP cannot conflict or contradict the LEP. 

Once draft Amendment No.3 to the Georges River DCP comes into effect, the following Hurstville DCPs will be repealed: 

  1. Hurstville Development Control Plan Number 2 - Amendment No. 6 - Applies to sites within the Hurstville City Centre identified as 'deferred matters' – see map here
  1. Hurstville Development Control Plan Number 2 - Amendment No. 12 - Applies to sites within the Hurstville City Centre excluding the 'deferred matters' – see map here

Draft Amendment No.3 to the GRDCP and supporting documentation will be on public exhibition from Wednesday 19 April – Friday 19 May 2023, and are available for viewing under the Document Library on the right side of this page.
