Consultation has concluded
UPDATE: Consultation for this project concluded on 19 May 2023. At its meeting held on 24 July 2023, Council resolved to adopt this amendment to the Georges River DCP 2021. The subject amendment will come into effect on 28 August 2023. For more information, please visit Council's DCP webpage: Georges River Council - Development Control Plans (nsw.gov.au)
A Development Control Plan (“DCP”) provides planning and design guidelines for the design and assessment of proposed developments to support the planning controls in the Local Environmental Plan (“LEP).
Background
The Georges River Development Control Plan 2021 came into effect on 8 October 2021 to support the Georges River Local Environmental Plan 2021. The Georges River DCP harmonised and replaced the Kogarah DCP 2013 and Hurstville DCP No.1. However, DCP controls for the Hurstville City Centre were excluded from the consolidation process and the Georges River DCP currently does not apply to land located within the Hurstville City Centre. A number of housekeeping issues have also been identified since then, comprising of unintended omissions, numerical, typographical, interpretation and formatting errors.
Consultation
Council is currently exhibiting draft Amendment No.3 to the Georges River DCP, which seeks to harmonise all DCP controls relating to the Hurstville City Centre into the Georges River DCP and rectify the identified housekeeping issues.
A list of the proposed amendments is provided here.
No changes to the Georges River LEP are proposed as part of the subject amendment to the GRDCP. The DCP cannot conflict or contradict the LEP.
Once draft Amendment No.3 to the Georges River DCP comes into effect, the following Hurstville DCPs will be repealed:
- Hurstville Development Control Plan Number 2 - Amendment No. 6 - Applies to sites within the Hurstville City Centre identified as 'deferred matters' – see map here
- Hurstville Development Control Plan Number 2 - Amendment No. 12 - Applies to sites within the Hurstville City Centre excluding the 'deferred matters' – see map here
