almost 6 years agoCLOSED: This brainstormer has concluded. What type of play equipment / components would you like to see included in your local playground ?
KMBalmost 6 years agoWater play park
I think adding a water play park to the area is a great idea, there is nothing close to us for little kids. Something similar to Steel park in Marrickville. McRaes park has lots of free space! Or Carrs Park.

Would love to see an extended toddler bike path as well as a gate installed so the park is completely fenced off. A barbecue for birthday parties would be fantastic. Playground equipment with climbing and exploration in mind for kids as well as upgraded swings and slides would be great.

I was planning to have a kids birthday in the park however there is no toilet around, it is inconvenience for guest being run back to the party holder's home and it may not nearby as well. Would like to have more bench seat as there are little at the moment.

We received a letter stating that Connells Point Reserve play equipment is due for an upgrade. I would like to make sure that the disability-accessible features of the current equipment are retained (ie ramp access for children who can't climb ladders, slides at 2 different height levels) while making it fun for children of all ages. The park can attract parties and large crowds so additional swings and a seesaw would be good. Also a circular rope platform swing (similar to that at L'Estrange park at Mascot) is fun for children who can't balance themselves on a normal swing and several children can fit to play together so it is inclusive as well. Soft-fall flooring is far preferable to the woodchip that is currently under the swings. The playground's proximity to the water, as well as being on a corner of 2 streets where buses pass, leads to safety concerns for parents of younger children and those with limited understanding. Please consider fencing the playground equipment from the rest of the park to keep smaller children contained in a safe environment. The current gazebo is in a state of disrepair (holes in walls, lights not working) and the fact that it's dark at night and and in a corner attracts an undesirable crowd in the evenings. This old gazebo should be demolished and replaced with one or more open-sided gazebos such as those in Carss Park.

The Cabana has been mentioned to GRC by Craig Coleman MP after I approached him to seek some repairs. They have all but one been completed. We need SOLAR LIGHTING installed with protection from any removal of globes or panels. I continue to pick up pot smoking bongs, bags that usually carry substances, cigarettes torn apart, scissors. I do know once we light this up light we have at train stations where they use ultra violet lighting, we will deter drugs from the park.
