We are proposing to officially name the reserve on Caledonia Crescent in Peakhurst as Caledonia Crescent Reserve.

The reserve includes a small playground, park benches, and lots of trees—creating a quiet spot for families and locals to relax or play. Our name proposal recognises the name that our community already uses for the reserve and will allow Council to formally register that commonly used name. This will help people find the reserve more easily and ensure emergency and essential services can respond quickly when needed.

You are invited to share your thoughts on the proposed name and tell us how you use this community space. We want to know:

What you think of the name Caledonia Crescent Reserve
What this reserve means to you and your family

Learn more about the naming proposal

The reserve on Caledonia Crescent is a locally-loved green space that provides an area for local families and residents to enjoy. Currently, it has no official name however it is commonly referred to as Caledonia Crescent Reserve, which creates challenges for navigation and emergency services.

What is place naming?

Place naming is the formal process of giving a name to a public space.

Names are chosen according to the Georges River Place Naming Policy for their connection to the unique history and culture of our area. The name would need to be approved by the Geographical Names Board of NSW before becoming official.

In the context of the Caledonia Crescent Reserve project, place naming:

Establishes a unique, official name for wayfinding on maps, signage, emergency services, and utility networks
Strengthens community identity by reflecting local history, geography, and cultural connections
Ensures that all Council documents, mapping systems, and other providers (such as Sydney Water and NBN) use the same name

Why "Caledonia Crescent Reserve"?

The proposed name "Caledonia Crescent Reserve" is already widely used by Council, mapping services, and the community. The proposed name creates a clear geographic link that helps people understand exactly where the reserve is located.

The name is in accordance with the NSW Geographical Names Board Place Naming Policy’s preference to maintain established names that are in local and long-standing use.

What won't change?

If the proposed name is approved there will be no changes to the way we refer to the reserve.
