May 20205 Update

Thank you to everyone who participated and provided feedback during our consultation periods. Following consultation and review of the options, Council, at the March and April Council Meetings, has resolved to proceed with the final concept design for Hurstville Park, Hurstville.

Hurstville Park

A contractor has been hired to carry out the construction work, and it is expected to begin in about two weeks. Please note that there may be some restricted access to the park during this time. The work is expected to be completed before the end of the financial year, weather permitting.

The proposed options for Merv Lynch Reserve, Beverly Hills, and Hogben Park, Kogarah will not be proceeding.

For more information on the outcome, please visit Council’s website to review the Council Meeting Minutes:

Background

Our local communities value our open spaces as great places to visit, unwind, and enjoy outside of our busy lives. In September 2024, we initiated consultation at three sites for proposed off leash dog parks. We invited our community to think about and provide feedback on concept designs for three off leash dog areas:

  • Hogben Park
  • Hurstville Park (adjacent to Hurstville Oval)
  • Merv Lynch Reserve

Based on your feedback, we commenced a second round of consultation in December 2024. We presented a few options for each of these parks, further refining the designs. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate during both phases of the consultation and share your ideas and feedback.
