Following the development and adoption of the Masterplan and Plan of Management for Kempt Field, Georges River Council is commencing the design and construction of the Kempt Field Inclusive Adventure Playground and Bike Training Circuit project.
During the Plan of Management and Masterplan development stage, Council undertook extensive community consultation on the proposed design features and a public exhibition of the plans.
The works proposed for this project involve the construction of a new inclusive children’s adventure playground, rubber soft fall surfacing, shade sail, seats and picnic shelters, water refill station, bike training circuit, and associated design and landscaping works.
It is anticipated the construction of the new playground and children’s bike training circuit will take approximately three months starting in May 2019.
Council is currently developing the designs for this project and would like to seek any feedback you may have on the Concept Design.
As a longtime resident of Hurstville for over 35 years and living near Kempt Field I am concerned this wonderful playground amenity will be vandalised and/or trashed as has happened to previous installations of playgrounds in same field. The problem is not lack of security but lack of visibility as Kempt Field is backed almost entirely by garages on Roberts Lane side and railway on another side and Durham St with poor visibility from road. Whilst a great concept I fear it will be a great waste of ratepayers money. Iza.

Fantastic Idea and very much needed, Funding already allocated by East Quarter development so lets not skimp on the project for the sake of saying we provided a playground. # Playground looks excellent however needs to be spaced out much more for safety reasons. # Amenities nearby are second-rate, too small, Disabled facility access poor to non, No Parents Room. (Playground BBQ area etc with no change table or parents room ?) # Parking, Where is one to park ? no parking spaces available after 8.30am all taken up by train commuters until after 4pm NEEDS TO BE REVIEWED Lets not skimp on the project by reducing it size, council dip into your own pocket and most importantly build new amenities facility and Off street Parking for the safety of our children or do we pay less rates at this end of town. WE HAVE THE ROOM AND WE HAVE THE MONEY.

The mulch and natural surfaces is great for some kids with disabilities who aren't in walkers or wheelchairs and this enables them to move around independently without having to wear long pants in summer or rip holes in every pair of pants they own. The mulch will also mean it's a softer surface in summer for these kids who are able to move around by crawling without burning themselves.

The playground needs to be further set back from the road. The fence needs to have gates and also not be able for young kids to climb through. Durham Lane is a busy road.
Pedestrian access from Hurstville Public School and Hurstville CBD needs to be consider in the establishment of this playground.

please try to avoid using Sand or Mulch for the grounds given it does get pretty windy there at times. The mentioned Rubber Surface all over would be much better and less messy, and easier for all to access

You need to make this green space BIGGER because of all the high rise building you have built. Make sure that it's accessible and make sure that there is CCTV . It needs to be a safe and well lit space cause you've built high rise slums on it s doorstep.

From what I can see here the park looks like it will be a wonderful asset to our community. It is a little hard to tell but I am guessing that the ‘brown’ sections are bark. Although it looks like there is a lot of softfall around a lot of the elements of the playground which is great there seems to be a very large amount of bark which is totally inaccessible and NOT inclusive for kids in wheelchairs and also those who have to use crutches or walking frames to get around. I know it is more expensive to softfall greater areas but bark is IMPOSSIBLE for these kids to be mobile on. Please review this. Please make a playground where kids with mobility issues can get around to the whole area. By having bark in these areas they are excluded from even giving it a try. We would love it if designers of these beautiful spaces would try getting in a wheelchair for a while or use a walking frame and visit a local park and see how hard it is, how impossible it is to negotiate bark.
