Community Consultation on 24/7 childcare centre

There were 434 total visits to the 24/7 consultation page and we received 58 survey responses.

A summary of the results:

• 72.4% do shift work, or have someone in their family that does shift work

• 89.7% indicated that they would benefit from a 24/7 child care centre

• 46.6% indicated extended hours (6am opening to 10pm closing time)

• 20.7% are interested in through the night care

• 24.1% 1-2 days per week

• 37.9% 3-5 days per week

These results indicate that there is a need for extended hours care, which is greater than the need for 24/7 care at this point in time. This will be taken into consideration as a guide for future planning within Children’s Services.
