The 2024-2025 Multicultural Advisory Committee is looking for new members!

Georges River is a rich and culturally diverse community. The 2021 census shows us that 46% of residents were born overseas and 53% of residents speak a language other than English at home. Georges River Council celebrates our diversity and is committed to supporting a socially inclusive and connected community.

To better support the community, Council works with its Multicultural Advisory Committee (formerly the Multicultural Reference Group). The role of the Committee is to provide feedback and advice to Council on its policies, plans and services to better support multicultural communities.

The Committee is voluntary and meets four times a year online, with in-person opportunities.

Membership represents a broad range of community identities – including ethnicity, culture, faith, age, ability, gender, and sexual orientation. All members must live, work, or have established links with multicultural communities in Georges River.

Membership will include, but is not limited to:

  • local community members of Georges River.
  • representatives from local services that focus on multicultural communities.
  • representatives from relevant government agencies.
  • Council staff.

For more information, please read the Committee's Terms of Reference.
