Trial of a temporary off-leash dog park at Progress Park Narwee

August 2026 update

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on the proposed temporary off-leash dog park at Progress Park.

After considering the community’s feedback, Council has decided to proceed with a six-month trial of a temporary off-leash dog park at Progress Park. The trial will run from September 2026 to March 2027.

What will happen during the trial?

Before the trial begins:

• The playground equipment will be removed to make the fenced area safe for dogs
• The existing fencing and seating will remain
• A waste bin and dog waste bag dispenser will be installed
• Signs will be installed explaining the trial, operating hours and expected behaviour.

Have your say during the trial

Throughout the trial, Council will invite the community to provide feedback on the temporary off-leash dog park.

Your feedback will help Council understand:

• Community experiences and views
• How well the temporary off-leash area is operating
• Any benefits, concerns or impacts
• How the space should be managed after the trial.

What is this project about?

Between April and May 2026, we asked the community whether Council should trial a temporary off-leash dog park at Progress Park, Narwee, for six months.

Council has considered the feedback received from the community and has decided to proceed with a six-month trial at Progress Park.

Where is Progress Park and what is it currently like?

Progress Park is located on Broadarrow Road and Mountview Avenue in Narwee. It is a neighbourhood park with open grass, trees, park furniture and a fenced playground.

The park is less than a 10 minute walk from Narwee Station, is easy to reach by footpath, and has on street parking on surrounding roads.
