Decode the Solar System this National Science Week!

UPDATE: Solar Explorer has been extended to 25 August, 2025. Prize draw entries will close on midnight 1 September, 2025.

We all know the solar system is enormous but just how big is it really? What would it look like shrunk down to 1/773,333,000th of its size?

Georges River Libraries have created a scale model of the solar system for you to explore.

Starting at the Sun at Hurstville Library and ending at a secret location on the western edge of the Georges River LGA, this is a planetary treasure hunt on an astronomical scale.

Jump in your spaceship, follow the clues to find all the planets this National Science Week 9-16 August!

Register via Eventbrite now to receive access to the Solar Explorer kit, which gives you everything you need to participate in this activity. Printed copies of the Activity Booklet can also be picked up from any Georges River Libraries branch.

This event is a great way for families to learn STEM together and participate in a hunt that is out of this world!

Upon completing the Solar Explorer trail, you can enter our prize draw to go into the running to win a Sky-Watcher 70mm Travel Telescope valued at $198. Simply follow the QR code from Neptune to Your Say and fill out a short survey to go into the draw. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be the next person to make an amazing space discovery!
