June Update
Thanks to everyone who shared their feedback during the February – March 2025 consultation period. We are continuing to work closely with Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to improve traffic at the Jubilee Avenue and Park Street intersections in Kogarah. Because Princes Highway is a state road, TfNSW manage and approve any changes to the road.
TfNSW is reviewing the traffic model that our consultants have prepared. This model shows how traffic moves through the intersections and helps us test different ideas to fix problems like congestion and safety risks. TfNSW and our consultants recently met and agreed on what updates the model needs so it can be approved. Once TfNSW approves the model, we can test different solutions and make final recommendations.
Our team is also reviewing the feedback from our community. We received over 300 responses across our survey and interactive map. Your experiences and concerns will guide how we work on the best ways to improve traffic flow and safety.
We appreciate your patience and will keep you updated as the project moves forward.
Project background
Georges River Council is seeking community feedback on the intersections of Princes Highway, Jubilee Avenue and Park Road, to help understand the challenges faced by road users and to advocate for improvements.
We stand with our community and recognise that there is a problem. Your experiences and feedback are vital in helping us advocate for meaningful improvements in this area.
Council has commissioned a traffic consultancy to undertake a Traffic Study at these sites to identify options to improve safety and improve traffic flow.
While this study will help Council build a strong case for change, it is important to note that any future action will require approval and commitment from Transport for NSW (TfNSW), as they are the State Road Authority.
By sharing your experiences, you’ll help us:
Identify key issues impacting road safety and usability
Highlight areas where improvements are urgently needed
Advocate more effectively for action from TfNSW
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the consultation. Our project team will review your submissions and provide an update on next steps shortly.
