Ruby Wing Reserve Playground Renewal
Council is planning to renew the playspace at Ruby Wing Reserve. We want to understand how the community uses the reserve and what types of play experiences people would like to see in the renewed playspace.
About Ruby Wing Reserve
Ruby Wing Reserve is a local neighbourhood park in Mortdale, near the Penshurst border. The reserve is bordered by Universal Street and The Strand.
The reserve currently includes a shaded playground and an open grassed area. The playground has climbing structures, slides, swings, a seesaw and other play equipment. It provides a place for children to play and for families, carers and neighbours to spend time outdoors.

As part of Council’s 2026/27 Playground Renewal Program, the playspace at Ruby Wing Reserve is being upgraded.
The project will renew the existing playground and provide more opportunities for children to play, explore and develop new skills. The renewed playspace will aim to be engaging, accessible and enjoyable for children, families, carers and the wider community.
The project will focus on the existing playspace within Ruby Wing Reserve. The below map shows Ruby Wing Reserve ans where the current play equipment is. The renewed playground will be in a similar location.

What are we asking?
Before developing the design, we want to understand how the community uses the reserve and what types of play experiences people would like to see in the renewed playspace. We want to know:
- How the reserve and playground are currently used
- What the community values about the existing space
- Which types of play should be prioritised
- What equipment, themes and other features people would like Council to consider
Your feedback will help shape the design of the renewed playspace and create a space the community can enjoy.

The Ruby Wing Reserve Playground Renewal consultation is open for feedback until 20 September 2026.
