Council wishes to advise that the works for the Riverwood Reconnected project have now been completed. These works saw the greening, public art installation, two chillout hubs and increased street furniture along Belmore Road in Riverwood.
This project was delivered in collaboration with NSW Governments Streets as Shared Spaces program.

September Update
Councils’ delivery of the Riverwood Re-connected project is coming to an end. The project has seen the installation of
- 17 advanced trees to green the area and provide shade
- 2 public art installations
- Bike storage to encourage active transport
- 1 parklet with planters and seating for people to meet and relax
- 2 ChillOut hubs smart social spaces equipped with lighting and charging facilities
- Additional public furniture along Belmore Road for people to rest and connect

August Update
Council has now finalised the design the revitalise Belmore Road Riverwood, This includes the installation of 17 street trees, 2 public art installations, 2 Chillout hubs- smart social spaces and new public furniture.
The grant funding received from the NSW Government for this project will enable Council to provide a built environment that is designed for people, with a focus on safety, comfort, play, enjoyment and vibrancy for all users to transform Belmore Road into a place that works for everyone, especially pedestrians.

Back in January, we asked you what you would like to see in the Riverwood Town Centre if we were successful in our application for the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment's Streets as Shared Spaces Round Two program.
A big thanks to everyone who got in touch and shared their ideas on the project. It was great to see what our community wants to see in the space, and your feedback has led to a great outcome that we're very excited to share with you!
Proudly funded by the NSW Government, our project has received $500,000 in grant funding.
Georges River Council aspires to revitalise and reconnect the two sides of Belmore Road, the lifeblood of the centre, currently severed by the railway station.
The grant funding will enable Council to provide a built environment that is designed for people, with a focus on safety, comfort, play, enjoyment and vibrancy for all users to transform Belmore Road into a place that works for everyone, especially pedestrians.
This will be achieved through the inclusion of the following:
 | Additional public furniture and shade to provide places for rest and respite |
 | Public art to activate and enliven the centre |
 | Increased street trees increase greenery and provide shade |
 | Linking the two sides of the station through a consistent look and feel |
 | Smart social spaces equipped with smart furniture and WiFi to allow users to plug and play |
 | Improving perceptions of the centre, encouraging visitation and stimulating the local economy by encouraging residents, workers and visitors to dwell |

Bakers delight, fruit shop, cheesecake world, shop front Cafe open late, get rid of the dreadful ramp we have to walk up

The public toilets need a complete overhaul. They’re horrendous.

The footpath from KFC to the plaza is horrible. The other side of the road has been done. It looks horrible and is full of trip hazards.

Create a small garden park in the underused spaces near the taxi rank or near the Vinnies. There's room for trees, seats & small tables.

Open an arts hub/centre to promote and encourage local art. Art classes for kids, adults, gallery space, public murals sculpture attractions
An art and cultural attraction and drawcard to the area. Different to other nearby suburbs, like the Hurstville Museum Gallery, an attraction for visitors, students, artists, sightseers, tourists.
