Update - Council Resolution - 26 February 2024

At its meeting held on 26 February 2024, Council resolved to adopt the Events and Festivals Charter, Event Guide and Event Toolkit.

Background

Georges River Council is exhibiting the Draft Events and Festivals Charter, Draft Event Guide and Draft Event Toolkit from 18 Dec 2023 to 15 Jan 23. The new documents are intended to replace the existing Events Strategy and provide a defined framework for Council run and community led events.

The Draft Events and Festivals Charter aims to establish Georges River as a leading event-friendly destination, with a balanced calendar of events that attracts visitors, bolsters our economy, and reflects our community and cultural identity. The Charter outlines the strategic objectives, a summary of relevant community feedback, Council’s approach to strategic event activation, types of events, how Council will monitor success and how Council supports community-run events.

The Draft Event Guide is to provide an easy-to-use, tangible resource for anyone wishing to plan and hold events in the Georges River area. This newly developed guide serves as a reference that will greatly assist external applicants as it summarises the entire event management process, to ensure safety and compliance in addition to successful event execution for all stakeholders.

The Draft Event Toolkit further improves the ease for customers when dealing with Council, by providing best practices for event planning in one location for event organisers. It includes various templates, forms and examples to assist with successful event planning.
