Consultation has concluded

As part of Councils commitment to increasing canopy cover to help reduce the localised effects of climate change, Council will be undertaking a planting program along a section of Penshurst Road, Penshurst.

The section of Penshurst Road between George Street & Clarence Street has seen the recent required removal of a large ficus tree due to vandalism. The remaining stump left in place to educate the wider community about tree vandalism is proposed to be removed. To mitigate risk and ensure public safety, it is also required that Council undertake the removal of another large ficus tree close to the corner of Clarence Street and as illustrated on Councils plans, which has contributed to significant structural damage to public and private assets and is now beyond practical management options.

To compensate for the removals and to prevent canopy loss, Council has identified suitable planting locations and selected 3 potential tree species ideal for the growing location and desired future street scape.

Council would like to collect your feedback on your preferred species from the following list;

- Liriodendron tulipifera (Tulip Tree)

- Waterhousia floribunda (Weeping Lilly Pilly)

- Zelkova serrata (Japanese Elm)
