UPDATE 4/10/22: A report on the outcomes of the exhibition of the draft master plan was considered at a Council Meeting held on Monday, 26 September 2022 at 7:00pm.

A copy of the report is available on Council's website here https://infoweb.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/grinfocouncil/Open/2022/09/CCL_26092022_AGN_AT.PDF

At that meeting, Council resolved (in summary) :

  • To prepare two revised Master Plan options for exhibition for 60 days (see Council Minutes for further detail)
  • To prepare a Traffic, Transport and Parking Study for both options prior to exhibition
  • To update the draft Public Domain Upgrade Works for both options prior to exhibition
  • Not to proceed with a draft Affordable Housing Contributions Scheme in the Mortdale Local Centre at this stage and to investigate a scheme that applies across the whole LGA.

The Council Minutes are available under the Council Business Papers https://infoweb.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/grinfocouncil/Open/2022/09/CCL_26092022_MIN.PDF

In accordance with Council’s resolution, the draft Mortdale Master Plan options will be placed on public exhibition following the preparation of a preliminary Traffic, Transport and Parking Study and update to the previous draft Public Domain Upgrade Works.

It is anticipated the draft Mortdale Master Plan Options and associated studies will be ready for exhibition in early to mid 2023.

Georges River Council is seeking your feedback to develop the Mortdale Local Centre Master Plan

Council has prepared a draft Master Plan for Mortdale Local Centre that aims to provide for future employment opportunities and new housing to support growth and a vibrant local centre.

Early in 2021 the community was invited to provide input in response to questions about housing types, shopping and services, streetscape and open spaces in Mortdale Local Centre. This provided valuable information about what the community values about the centre, and what they appreciate about living in the area. We have considered and reflected on the community’s issues and concerns in preparing the draft Master Plan.

The draft Master Plan makes recommendations to:

Rezone land to support the Centre's growth and provide transition to nearby low density areas

Improve the public space network through public spaces and facilities for community including: road closure plazas, town square, new park, library and community hub.

Improve public domain including active transport upgrades, potential through site links, laneway upgrades and road closure plazas.

The draft Master Plan outlines implementation options including amendments to planning controls and bonus development incentives for affordable housing.
