Do you, your sporting club, or someone you know have objects, photographs, uniforms, or memorabilia relating to the history of Hurstville Oval?
Georges River Council is calling on the community to help tell the story of Hurstville Oval.
Council is seeking objects, photographs, uniforms, and other memorabilia related to the long and varied history of Hurstville Oval. The objects would be displayed in a display case in the brand-new Blackshaw Gould Community Pavilion, which officially opened at Hurstville Oval on Thursday 2 May 2024. The pavilion was named after local sporting legends Les Blackshaw and Nell Gould in honour of their outstanding contributions to local and national sports.
Since its opening in 1911, Hurstville Oval has played host to sporting groups of every level – from community sports to internationally acclaimed stars. The founding place of Australian women’s athletics, the site of one of Australia’s oldest velodromes, and the home turf of cricketing greats Sir Donald Bradman and Arthur Morris MBE, Hurstville Oval has long fostered excellence in sport, which will be reflected in this new display.
We are looking for residents and organisations to share their objects and stories, and welcome hearing from you.
Please complete this form or contact Hurstville Museum & Gallery by Sunday 18 August2024.
