Libraries 2030 Strategy Community Check in
We are checking in to make sure our libraries continue to meet the needs of our diverse community.
Our plans for the future of our libraries were developed with our community in 2019 and are shown in Libraries 2030: the Georges River Library Strategy:
Spaces: we want library spaces that are bigger, more flexible and better located to ensure everyone can access our library services.
Collections: We are making collections more accessible to more people. We will ensure they reflect the area's diverse culture and history. We will ask our community to help shape our collection. We want them to create content for future generations.
Services: we will help all people access information through advice, programs, technology, and collections. |
As we approach 2030, the needs and priorities of our community can change, so we want to understand what is most important to you when using our library services. We want to hear from our current library members as well as people who have never used our libraries.

Further information
Georges River has five libraries: two large libraries at Hurstville and Kogarah; three small branch libraries at Oatley, Penshurst and South Hurstville.
Our libraries are committed to providing programs that cater to the diverse needs of our community. From borrowing books and equipment to taking part in our regular story times, to designing a masterpiece in the media lab, or just winding down in our leisure and study spaces, the libraries have something for everyone.
By 2030, our libraries will be the centre of knowledge, culture, and creativity. They will inspire and support a diverse, resilient Georges River community. We will maintain a special focus on the principles of sustainability, accessibility and the professional development of our staff.
Across February, our team will be available at Hurstville and Kogarah Libraries to answer your questions about the Libraries 2030 Strategy and take your feedback on the community check in. No registrations required.
