Help Shape the Future of Public Computers at Georges River Libraries

We are upgrading the public computers at our libraries. The new computers will provide modern, reliable technology for people using library services.

Before we select the new computers, software and accessibility features, we want to understand what our community needs.

Whether you use library computers regularly, occasionally or not at all, your feedback will help guide what is considered as part of the public computer upgrade.

How did we get here?

Public computers provide access to technology and the internet. The existing computers are reaching the end of their useful life and need to be replaced. We are planning to upgrade public computers services at all Georges River Libraries, which includes:

• Hurstville Library
• South Hurstville Library
• Penshurst Library
• Oatley Library
• Clive James Library, Kogarah

Before selecting the new equipment, Council wants to better understand:

• How often you go to a library
• Your current library computer use
• Why you do, or do not use the library computers
• What assistive technology which would be helpful

Who may be affected?

The project may affect anyone who currently uses, or may need to use, a public computer at Georges River Libraries.

You do not need to be a regular library computer user to complete the survey. We also want to hear from people who do not currently use the computers to understand the reason why you don't.

The Use of Library Computers survey is open for consultation until 18 October 2026
