What is this project about?
We are investigating the need for a future new indoor multisport stadium in the Georges River area.
An indoor multisport stadium is a venue with several indoor courts that could support a range of sports, recreation programs, competitions and community activities. Throughout this project, we refer to the indoor multisport stadium as 'the facility'.
We want to understand how people use indoor facilities and which sports, activities and amenities they would value.
Your feedback will help Council understand community need and inform the feasibility study. No decision has been made about this project and no preferred location has been selected.
Why are we investigating this project?
We are investigating whether a future new indoor sporting facility could help meet the community’s needs.
CINAAAS is our long-term framework for planning and providing community infrastructure, including parks, sporting facilities and other community spaces.
We want to understand the community’s current and future needs for an indoor sporting facility in the Georges River area. A new facility could:
provide reliable, year-round access to indoor sport and recreation
support local clubs, programs and competitions
provide more opportunities for people to take part in sport and recreation
offer space for events and community activities
Your feedback will help us understand the community’s needs. It will be considered alongside technical, financial, environmental and operational information before any decisions are made about the project.
Have potential sites been investigated?
We are investigating the following potential locations:
Johnny Warren Indoor Sports Centre precinct, Penshurst
Tallawalla Reserve, Beverly Hills
Peakhurst Park, Peakhurst
Olds Park, Penshurst
No preferred location has been identified, and no decision has been made. At this stage, we want to understand the community’s needs for an indoor sporting facility.
