April Update: Gifford Park Amenity Block Concept Design now open for feedback

Back in November 2025, we asked our community to share their feedback on the current amenity block at Gifford Park and our proposal to upgrade it to a modern facility.

Your feedback has helped shape the project as it moves into the concept design stage. Concept design is an early stage of the design process. It outlines the overall idea and layout of the project, including the size, location and main features of the building.

We are now inviting the community to take part in a second round of consultation to view and provide feedback on the concept design.

During this stage, you can:

We are accepting feedback from 23 April to 14 May 2026. Your feedback will help us make sure the facility meets community needs, together with safety, accessibility, and technical requirements.

Why is Council upgrading the amenity block?

This upgrade is part of Council's program to renew facilities so they remain safe, functional, and accessible. The goals of this project are to:

  • Create a more welcoming and inclusive space for the community
  • Support sporting groups with improved facilities
  • Provide accessible toilets for everyone

What features will the new sporting amenity have?

The facility will include:

  • Two changerooms (Home and Away)
  • Canteen
  • Storage room
  • Public toilets: 1 accessible toilet, 2 female cubicles, 1 male cubicle, 1 male urinal, and 2 wash basins

The location of the amenity block will remain the same. Council has reviewed community feedback and assessed the site to ensure the size and scale of the building is appropriate for the park.

Based on feedback received, the design also includes an accessible concrete pathway connecting the amenity block to the nearby play area. The amenity block also features a breezeway for visual connection between the play area and field.

Where is Gifford Park and what is it currently like?

Gifford Park is located in Penshurst, between Penshurst Street and Young Street. The park provides space for walking, relaxing, playing sport, and other recreational activities. Local sporting clubs use the park throughout the year for training and games.
