In 2050, Georges River residents will be “Connected, Naturally”. These connections are to the river, nature, local history, diverse communities, recreation and services, public transport, jobs, information and technology. 2050 outlines a pathway for achieving this vision and responds to global trends and challenges, providing focus for further work and policy directions, while acknowledging the achievements Council has made and the work currently underway. The document explains how with consistent, strategic decisions we can achieve our goals.
It also aligns to National, NSW and Georges River policy and planning directions while pushing the boundaries, allowing us to look beyond our current work plans and business. 2050 is Council’s promise to the city that we will be future focused, ambitious and committed to being a positive leader for change.
The 2050 images of Hurstville and Kogarah show highly successful commercial and cultural centres that provide local jobs for our aspirational community. They are centres with research institutions, universities and cultural assets.
Council, at its meeting on 25 November 2019 considered a report and resolved to exhibit the Georges River 2050 strategy for a minimum of 28 days. Public exhibition is from 10 December 2019 to 21 January 2020.

Following the exhibition period and the receipt of public comments, this matter will be reported back to Council including submissions for final adoption.
