Update

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback during our consultation period. The Keeping of Animals Policy has now been updated and is available on our Council website.

Background

Council at its meeting on 2 August 2022 endorsed a draft Keeping of Animals Policy to be placed on public exhibition for 28 days.

The draft Policy is a revised version of an existing Keeping of Animals Policy adopted by Council in 2020. The changes in this Draft Policy include:

	Clarification to make it clear that the requirements of the Draft Policy are not blanket controls that apply to the entire LGA but may only apply to seek the resolution of a complaint about the keeping of an animal that has been verified by an Authorised Officer of Council
	Reintroduction of the criteria to limit the numbers of cats kept on a premises, when there is a complaint regarding an amenity impact on neighbouring residents, that has been verified by an Authorised Officer of Council.

The Draft Keeping of Animals Policy will be on public exhibition from April 4, 2024 to June 3, 2024
