Calling all professional artists – Hurstville Mural Installation

Georges River Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from professional artists/teams of artists for the creation of a mural in Hurstville Library. The aim of the project is to contribute to the design of a new dedicated creative space within the library; to create inspiring public art that communicates the purpose of this new space; and to increase the cultural vibrancy of the Georges River area.

Hurstville Library is located on the corner of Dora and MacMahon Street, Hurstville and serves a culturally diverse population. The mural will be installed in a newly constructed creative space within Hurstville Library. Similar to a ‘Makerspace’, the new Digital Media Lab will offer technology and programming characterised by a strong DIY ethos and will promote hands-on experimentation, innovation, creativity and play.

The project includes artwork development, design and installation. The mural should respond to Georges River Council’s inclusive and diverse community and reflect the purpose of the creative space. A range of styles will be considered, however the chosen design will need to be executed in situ.

Artists will be expected to complete the works during a negotiated installation period between the hours of 9.00am – 9.00pm Monday to Friday; and 9.00am – 4.00pm Saturday to Sunday.

To express your interest in this public art project, read our full EOI guidelines, complete an EOI form below.
