Economic Leadership Group - Expression of Interest
Apply to become a member of the Georges River Economic Leadership Group 2025
We are looking for a diverse group of people with strong connections to industry bodies, small business, major employers and other stakeholder groups to provide advice related to the Night Time economy, Tourism, Manufacturing, Creative Industries, Innovation and Precinct Development.
The Economic Leadership Group’s role will be to:
- Support business engagement: Promote and engage with key partnerships, business networks and industry sectors to respond to issues that may impact on the economic growth of the region.
- Strategic advice: Provide strategic advice to Council on the current opportunities and challenges relevant to Georges River economy.
- Advocate for the Georges River district: Partner with Georges River Council to attract new businesses, investment and jobs to the local area.
- Vision: Assist with the commissioning and implementation of a new Economic Development Strategy for the Georges River Council Area.
Georges River Council will make appointments based on merit, skill, expertise, leadership qualities and ensure there is a representative sample of our local business community. The Economic Leadership Group will bring specialist experience and skills, relevant network connections, creative and innovative thinking, capacity building for diverse communities, and a strong desire to drive economic opportunities for all in the Georges River Council.
Members of the committee will be appointed for a term commencing from the first meeting through to 31 December 2024. Meetings will take place at a minimum three (3) times per year.
Eligibility criteria for membership
- Currently operating a business within George River Council, a local resident with specific expertise in a business-related area such as research and development relevant to economic development or leading a business or industry network that represents stakeholders in Georges River.
- Demonstrated strong business networks and linkages.
- A broad understanding of the influence of business and economics on the local community and its social, environmental, and economic well-being.
- An ability and willingness to encourage participation from and provide feedback to the community regarding business and economic development.
- A capacity to commit to the Economic Leadership Group for the required duration.
- A willingness to celebrate the success and achievements of businesses of Georges River.
