Georges River E-Scooter Shared Scheme

The trial has started from 10 January 2024.

Georges River Council is excited to announce it is the first Sydney Metro council to trial shared e-scooters, marking the start of a 12-month trial in Kogarah.

From 10 January, riders 16 years and older are able to hire a Beam e-scooter in Kogarah’s trial area, focused around the town centre. Locals and visitors are able to scoot to existing bus and train stations, St George Hospital, St George TAFE, Jubilee Stadium, community services and cafes in Kogarah town centre.

After a detailed selection process, we're excited to announce that Beam has been chosen as the provider for this trial. The operation of the e-scooters will be managed by Beam during the trial while the operation of privatised e-scooters will remain illegal in NSW.

The trial area is shown on the map below. E-scooters are only permitted to be ridden on the road within the trial area and must abide by the NSW Road Rules.

Note: This map is subject to change from time to time. Please refer to the in-app map for up-to-date riding zones and parking station locations.
