Update

Following the Council’s resolution at it’s meeting on 28 August 2023, The Sustainable Procurement Policy was placed on public exhibition from 3 to 31 October 2023. As no formal submissions were received the Policy has now been adopted. The St George Business Chamber had provided Council with supportive feedback on the Policy which was outlined in a separate report to Council at it’s meeting on 18 December 2023. Council thanked the President and all the members of the St George Business Chamber for their support of the Policy.

Background

Council recently undertook a full review of its existing Procurement Policy to ensure it included and aligned with all relevant Council Policies, Plans and Strategies, and other important legislative requirements.

The main objective of the review, however, was to ensure that the Policy also incorporated sustainability principles relating to social, environmental, and economic / financial perspectives. This is to ensure that all procurement activities are conducted to not only to achieve value for money and desired outcomes in line with Council’s strategic plans and policies, but to more effectively meet community expectations.
