Consultation has concluded
Update: April 2026
Council has completed the Donnelly Park Foreshore construction works. The aim of the work was to replace the aging seawall structure with a new, environmentally resilient foreshore, enhancing habitat and improve community access. This project was partially funded by the NSW Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
Key foreshore features included:
Saltmarsh habitat to support marine life, boost biodiversity and help manage flooding and erosion.
Foreshore stabilisation to improve performance during tidal and storm events.
New terracing and stairs providing safer access to improve direct connection to the water.
Additional seating and picnic areas to create a more welcoming community space.
Planting and landscaping to integrate the works with the natural foreshore setting.
Notification of Project
Council wishes to advise that it has completed the concept design of the foreshore improvement works for Donnelly Park, Connells Point (which can be viewed in high resolution from the panel on the right). This key foreshore project was identified in the Georges River Foreshore Access and Improvement Plan, which was adopted by Council in March 2021.
The focus of this project is to increase the environmental resilience of foreshore community infrastructure whilst improving the amenity and community access to the Georges River. The concept design includes the repair of the ageing seawall structure, landscape embellishment works, installation of seating and an intertidal habitat.
Council will now commence the detailed design phase of the project, enabling the future construction of this infrastructure as funding becomes available.
