Background
Georges River Council manages a number of community land properties under leases or licences such as community centres, sporting amenities blocks, scout and guide halls and baby health centres for the benefit of the Georges River community. Sporting amenities blocks only refers to change rooms, canteens and storage facilities but does not include hire of playing fields or parks.
Council is currently developing a Community Property Strategy and is now seeking community feedback to assist with the development of the Strategy. Developing a Community Property Strategy will allow Council to shape a future direction for the management of Council’s community property assets.
In June 2020, Council adopted the Georges River Council Community Lease Policy. The Policy provides guidelines for both Council and the community to follow when dealing with community properties that will allow for public benefit and community enjoyment. The Policy and this strategy paper do not include Council owned commercial or retail property (such as premium facilities including but not limited to aquatic facilities, golf clubs, Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and the Norm O’Neill Cricket Centre)
