Economic Development Strategy

Georges River is home to some of the most accessible centres in Sydney, world class health care facilities and a talented, skilled and culturally diverse workforce. Council’s Economic Development Strategy takes a place based approach in building on these attributes for responsive and progressive places for investment, working and lifestyle.

We are pleased that Kogarah has been recognised as the 16^th most accessible suburb on the Deloitte 30 Minute City Index, and Carlton / Kogarah Bay and Allawah were equal 49^th, and Hurstville 57^th out of over 300 suburbs.

Approximately 70 people participated in our workshops and the generous and thoughtful participation yielded some tremendous insights. For example, in our Kogarah workshop, a participant spoke about the “the Paris end of Kogarah”, and sure enough, Kogarah is reported (SMH 7/5/18) to be the second most like Paris suburb in Sydney!
