We want to understand what arts and culture mean to people across Georges River, including people who do not currently attend Council programs or use Council cultural venues.

Your feedback will help us understand:

• What you take part in now
• What makes it easier or harder to participate
• What activities, events, spaces and opportunities you would like in the future

'What is Art?' Community Mural now complete

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to contribute to our 'What is Art?' activity at the Lugarno Lions Spring Fair. It was great to see what creative ideas people wanted to share, either through drawing, designing or writing. Your contributions will help inform how our check in for the Create George River Strategy.

What is arts and culture?

Arts and culture can include festivals, music, dance, exhibitions, public art, local history, cultural traditions and the creative activities people enjoy in everyday life.

What are we asking?

Council’s current cultural strategy, Create Georges River, guides how Council supports arts and culture across the local government area.

We are checking in before the strategy is updated to learn what you value, how you take part, what may be missing and what you would like arts and culture in Georges River to look like in the future. Want to know:

• What matters most to you about local arts and culture
• What arts and cultural activities you take part in
• What would you like to see more of in Georges River
• What would make it easier for you to take part
• What may prevent people from participating
• Whether people can find out about local opportunities

Your feedback will provide evidence for Council’s future cultural planning.

You do not need to be an artist or have attended a Council activity to take part. We want to hear from everyone, including people who do not currently use Council’s programs or services.

How can I have my say?

Right now, we are asking our community to complete a short survey online or join us in person at upcoming events to share feedback on arts and culture in Georges River.

Our online survey takes 5-10minutes to complete and will ask you about your preferences and experience of arts and culture.

We are also hosting pop-in sessions at events and activations where you can add to our community mural, share what creative things you do locally or elsewhere, and chat to our team about what matters to you.

You can also send feedback as hardcopy to our team, whether its a letter, hardcopy survey, or something more creative.
